Gua Sha (Scraping)
Gua Sha is a healing technique in Tradition Chinese Medicine in which the skin on the back, limbs, and other parts of the body is lubricated and then pressured and scraped with a rounded object. This method produces "Sha" which are small red petechiae.The appearance of the Sha marks on the skin indicates that there had been a stasis in blood in that location of the body.
Gua Sha is commonly used for :
- Reduce fever
- Treat fatigue caused by exposure to heat or cold
- Cough and dyspnea: bronchitis, asthma, emphysema
- Treat muscle and tendon injuries
- Push sluggish circulation, fibromyalgia
- Treat headache
- Treat sunstrokes / heat syncope and nausea
- Treat stiffness, pain, immobility
